Let me begin by providing a little background with regards to Mr. Chip Phelps. As a Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Branch Chief, I first met Chip during a Yellow Ribbon deployment brief. I left my contact info and mentioned that I would give him a call as I was looking to prepare for my transition from 35 years of military service. Thankfully, as I got busy with the day to day job requirements, Chip followed up with a phone call, which brought my transition plans to the forefront. I have come across a few transition counselors and have developed some mixed opinions regarding their services, until Chip Phelps came along.
Chip Phelps is a highly experienced, competent, professional who is trustworthy, flexible, and genuine in his approach to assisting his clients. In my case, I needed to update my resumes for a civilian and federal job, both of which have different formats and requirements. Chip was honest and spot on in his critique of my resumes. He provided me with invaluable feedback as I rewrote my resumes. The first application I put forth prior to working with Chip resulted in a non-referral. Afterwards, the resume I developed with Chip’s help resulted in seven referrals, two job interviews, and a job offer which I accepted. In addition, Chip was very flexible in scheduling his time to meet with me.
Not only did Chip work with me on my resume, he also provided interview preparation which was thorough, and relevant. By the time we had finished prepping, the actual interview found me relaxed, poised, and confident. Shortly afterwards, I received a job offer which I accepted. On a side note, while I had been employed several months by the FAA, I received another job offer from one of the other referrals to my resume.
